THE MIGHTY PEN SALUTES AT THIS TRUE SON OF MALAYSIA…TOK GURU NIK AZIZ!
Kelantan Menteri Besar Tok Guru Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat is against the use of the “bumiputera” term when applying for government assistance. He said the term not only smacked of
racism, but also deprived other races, who share similar rights and possess similar identity cards, of the facility.
“In an election, other races are allowed to cast one vote, so are the bumiputera,” he said in response to a remark last week by the Opposition chief in the Johore state assembly, Dr Boo Cheng Hau (DAP-Skudai) who likened the bumiputera policy in the country with that of the apartheid in South Africa.
Tok Guru Nik Abdul Aziz said the government should form a body to manage aid for the poor in the country and not cater only for a single group known as the bumiputera. “I don’t like
the (use of the) word bumiputera. What I like is (use of the word) poor, for all races,” he added. He said the poor, regardless of their race, should be given assistance.
In another development, Tok Guru Nik Abdul Aziz said the success of the Kelantan people in the economic sector was due to their perseverance after being disappointed with the restrictions imposed by the federal government on the state.
He said the attitude of the federal government leaders in discouraging investors to come to Kelantan made the Kelantan people more determined to succeed on their own. However,
the PAS spiritual leader said it was regretful that some people preferred to build big houses and buy luxury cars with their money. “My worry is that with big houses, big cars, their money becomes dead, instead of making it grow,” he added.
The Mighty Pen says: We salute this great leader’s wisdom. A true man who has the poor and the marginalized at his heart! How many Malay leaders from the government (opposition included) can take the stand of this great leader! The Mighty Pen always keeps this great leader in their hearts. Only through his sincere interference on many of the ancient beliefs in Malaysia, poverty and marginalization of the race and the poor can be eradicated altogether!
